The Exchange - Rino Asahi by ~momijikk:iconmomijikk:

--Basics--
Name: Rino Asahi

Age: 18 (Real and appearance)

Gender: Male

Preferred pronoun: He

Race: Vampire (before you assume; he's a different kind of vampire). He's also Japanese.

--Physical: Appearance--
Height: 6 feet

Weight: In the middle of light and heavy; average. He does have muscles.

Build/Body type: Broad shoulders, "manly" (muscled) frame, and very sturdy overall.

Skin: Pale. Not as pale as snow, but pretty pale, like an average Caucasian.

Hair: Dark brown, flat on his head in a "rainy"-style neat cut. It reaches to his nape.

Eyes: Blood Red (normal pupils; they can't change color, either).

Facial Details: Smooth, clear face; sturdy jawline but not so overpowering as most men. He has sharp fangs that he can change the size of (as long as it's reasonable), but they only appear while his vampiric powers are in use or when he wants them extended.

Other defining features/extra anatomy: His bangs are long enough so that his left eye is perpetually hidden by his bangs. They're also parted so that they fully hide his left eye. He has wings (but they're kind of just to show that he's flying) that extend out of his shoulder blades and have a bat-like look to them (they are black with dark poison purple webbing), but they're usually hidden since they eat up his "life force".

Clothing: Usually a nice button-up dark brown long-sleeved shirt and black slacks. He wears crisp, nice and neat black shoes with the laces tied just right. For his costume to be complete, he likes to wear a long cape that's black on the outside and red on the inside, but he's forgone the cape for right now.

--Physical: Movement--
Gait/Demeanor: Very haughty (meaning with an egotistical and feeling like he's above you type of personality). Every motion is easily thought ahead, but you can still catch him off-guard. He's usually just teasing, deceitful, and cocky.

Voice/Speech patterns: Usually very polite when addressing someone he sees as deserving of his respect; usually very degrading and taunting towards those he sees as lower than himself. He can start to ramble on if the person he's talking to stays silent, but he can catch himself before he starts sometimes. He tends to restrain the important information so that others have to ask him to clarify. He does use honorfics sometimes if he deems the person worthy, but has none for Lali.

--Personality--
Loves: Teasing his (best) friend and chosen "partner", Lali, being an overall jerk to those around him, blood red curry with white rice, Lali's blood, and having the power to order those around him.

Hates/Fears: Becoming anemic and losing Lali are his two main fears; he hates Seki (for getting on his nerves and defying him) and the thought of dying (since it will force him to leave Lali and he has a grudge against the "Higher-Ups").

Strengths: Physically, he is strong, and can become even stronger with enhancements from his vampiric abilities. He's naturally a very good marksman and has learned how to use a gun from two of his friends very well. He's also very good with a bow and arrow, which was taught to him by his gaming friend. He has a knack for finding things that annoy others on his first try, which he uses a lot, he's very intelligent, experienced, and he has his vampiric powers honed to perfection. His best quality may be that he can think through any predicament even if he's raging or distracted. He can drink his partner's blood in order to speed up the healing of his wounds or status ailments as well.

Weaknesses: He can't socialize regularly with others (he was brought up that way), and he's got a major weak spot for his "partner", Lali. Physically, he's very sound and can resist any kind of torture or combat, but mentally happens to be his weak point (since he's dense and is easily frustrated when he can't figure something out). His greatest flaw is that his powers are not limitless, as after a point he can become "anemic" and will drop into uselessness if he doesn't get any blood in his system. He is also as fragile as a human, with no special defenses from being a vampire included, so he's susceptible to getting hurt and being shot.

Attitude in a group: He's mostly a leader and will clash with any other leader types, mainly Seki, though he's very cooperative when it comes to pulling through on his ideas. If it's anyone else's idea, and the situation isn't too serious, he'll be rebellious.

Pick one of the SEVEN DEADLY SINS that your character relates to, and one that your character does not relate to:
Rino does relate to Gluttony; Rino does not relate to Sloth. As is expected with his type of being, Rino wants nothing more than to gorge himself on his partner's blood, a dangerous thing for him to indulge in, as it both gives hm life while taking away his partner's. Rino is a bit of a glutton for this blood, as are most of the vampires from his specific race, and from drinking this blood also comes lust, which is why he is more of a glutton than lustful. He has a lot of pride, but he's more of a glutton than prideful. Rino, however, is not a slacker and tends to get things done as soon as possible, and so he does not relate all that well with sloth.

Pick one of the SEVEN HOLY VIRTUES that your character relates to, and one that your character does not relate to:
Rino does relate to Prudence; Rino does not relate to Temperance. He is able to tell whether a situation needs his absolute seriousness and he does govern and discipline himself with the use of reason, and therefore he is very prudent. But he has basically no restraint on his indulgences, especially and mostly Lali's blood, and therefore he is not so temperate.

Quirks: Rino is a particularly dense being (it took him four whole years to figure out why he liked the smell of Lali's blood and it will take him even longer to figure out he loves Lali), even though he's very intelligent. He's quick to retort, even if the comment said to him wasn't all that angering. Most everything that he does is whole-heartedly for Lali's sake, though he's not quite yet aware that he loves the other. He doesn't particularly care for how others view him, and is able to be truthful about who he is, even being willing to admit that he is a vampire in public. He can lie easily to other's faces, though, and he doesn't place complete trust in anyone besides his father and Lali. He is also quite disdainful of those running heaven, because they are trying to reel Lali back to them and keep Rino away from Lali. He will refuse to eat any meal if there is no dessert to follow it (but his body doesn't require him to eat anyways in order to stay functioning).

Other: Rino is a from a fairly different line of vampires. His family line was the ones who made the pact with the animals agreeing to allow them their life if they spared their blood, therefore making them the most prestigious and powerful clan of vampires. No matter which clan, though, all of the guidelines are the same. A vampire may only have one partner, a partner who will give them permission to drink their blood. If the permission is given, then the human and vampire have formed a basic pact that does not allow either to cheat on another on the penalty of death. The human gains no benefits from this beginning partnership except that they regain their blood back quicker by drinking orange juice and eating sugar cookies; it is a parasitic bond that can grow to be a mutually beneficial one with marriage.
-A vampire finds their partner by how good the blood smells to them; gender does not matter. They also do not have to choose a human partner, but can choose and "animorph" or another vampire, but the circumstances are different. The human's blood will act as an arousing stimulant to the vampire, the power depending on how tasteful the blood smells and how delicious the blood tastes. Drinking blood both strengthens and weakens their powers, greatly enhancing the senses for a period of time but painfully arousing them. If they take blood without the human's permission, then they will turn into a monster and what humans label as the "monster" vampires.
-These vampires also can not change a human into a vampire in any way at all (especially not by biting them). However, a vampire can still kill their partner by draining them of their blood. This blood is their "life force"; they are given strength depending on how much of it they take and they use this to stay alive.
-Being "anemic" means that a vampire is running low on their "life force"; if they allow the "anemia" to go on for too long, then their limbs will feel like they have gone numb and they will get dizzy spells. The "anemia" only comes around after weeks of not drinking blood, though, and even when using their powers without restraint, it will still take a day or two for the "anemia" to set in. The vampires will not die from "anemia", they will just drop into a coma.
-The vampires are also unaffected by crosses, sunlight (though because they are often pale, they have a tendency to burn easily), and garlic (although that happens to be Rino's least favorite food). They will still die if you drive a stake through their heart, but then again, so would any normal human, so that is mostly considered as a weakness of the flesh. Rino is always carrying a multitude of band-aids on his person because after he bites, the wound does not close immediately.

--History/Background--
Setting: Comes from a generic "Earth" setting from the generic "present" time period with the same technological advances and hindrances as "today's". The only difference is that this "Earth" allows for more fantasy beings to come into existence (i.e. there are people who can morph into animals and biological androids, or "bioroids") and the history of its existence is not the same as our Earth's, though it is a little similar (this planet used to be Grasseno).

Family: His father, Ashira Asahi. He gets along relatively well with the man, who is the doting type who knows when to admonish and how severely to punish for each crime, because the man is kind and generally acceptable of most things. His father didn't realize Rino was a vampire at first until Rino came home after his first taste of Lali's blood. After that, his highly perceptive father could easily tell.
His mother, Kimira Asahi. He doesn't really get along with her at all, since she is highly prejudiced and Rino has no inhibitory boundaries, and also because she is the overly doting protective type. She tends to flip out easily, and Rino still can't understand why his father loves her.
His father's older brother, the vampire Kiriyo Asahi. Kiriyo taught Rino most everything there was to know about being a vampire, and he was generally a good guy who was supportive and willing to listen to anything Rino had to tell him. Rino mostly inherited his snark from Kiriyo.
His mother's brother, Beshu Heileu. Although Rino doesn't know the man intimately, he can still say that this man grew up in quite a different perspective than the rest of his family had, being as open-minded as Rino's father. He is also helping Rino get into genealogy, which is Rino's primary career choice, and explained why his family was so prejudiced to Rino as well.
A distant relative, KK Wingdragon. The two will get along as long as Rino isn't bullying Lali, especially since she makes the best deserts Rino has ever tasted. She was an important part of his childhood, which is another supporting factor of as to why he's helping Lali.

Friends: His partner and "best" friend, Lali Wingdragon. He cares very deeply for his partner, and will do anything to help the boy out and protect him from harm. His excuse may be that Lali only is there to provide him with blood, but he does care deeply for the other, despite his continued teasing and taunting.
His first friend, the gamer Maxx Jenkis. Maxx's parents work for the government for a living, and so Maxx is good at tinkering with technology and electronic devices and a good hacker. Maxx refuses to subordinate himself to Rino at times, and so the two have a healthy man-to-man relationship in which they trade blows a lot.
His two subordinates and marksmen teachers, the twin brothers Michael and Nathan Washin. These two were the first to help Rino realize that he was from an "upper-class" family that had power. They also hailed from the mafia his mother's side of the family basically operated and owned. The two felt a special kinship to Rino because their parents had been his mother's bodyguards, and so they are willing to follow Rino and fulfill any order he gives to them.
A timid boy with an inner strength, Mitsu Takashi. Rino forced this timid boy into becoming a cross dresser after he lost a bet with the vampire and Rino forced him to pretend that he was female from when they were eight to the present. So far, no one has figured it out, and so the charade must be kept up. Needless to say, they don't really get along very well because of this.
Seki Gintaryuu. She is a constant annoyance and aggravation to Rino. They disagree whenever they can and Seki often instigates the fistfights, Rino being brought up with the chivalry to never hit a girl. Seki mainly hated him because he bullied Lali and because Lali still loved him. Seki always thought she was protecting Lali by distancing Rino, but in actuality, they were getting closer while she wasn't looking. Rino also has a kind of personal vendetta against her for simultaneously going out with his two cousins (from his mother's side), Cirkra and Huniu Heileu.

Backstory: -He was born in Japan and raised in America, an exceptionally bright child. His father is the human prince of a vampire family that is the most distinguished branch and his mother comes from a very prestigious and prejudiced family who basically own the mafia. After almost becoming too "anemic" to move when he had turned four, Rino's uncle Kiriyo taught him everything he needed to know about his heritage of being a vampire. Rino was babysat, starting at the age of one, when needed by a distant relative of his father's, a teenage girl simply called KK. There he met Maxx, his first friend; not soon after he turned three, he met Michael and Nathan, the twin sons of his mother's old body guards. The twins instinctively followed Rino and did whatever he asked them to, so Rino learned of his social standing first hand before learning it from his mother's teachings.
-KK adopted a son, Lali, about three years after she started watching Rino, and the boy was fascinating and angering to Rino, for he could smell something special about this boy's blood. After a year passed, Rino confronted the other in Kindergarten and was a constant bully to the boy who held a taunting scent above the vampire's head that he could not grasp. Although Rino fought with Seki, Lali's friend and adopted "sister", he persisted in teasing the boy as well as saving him from other bullies. When the two turned eight, Rino finally consented in becoming friends with Lali (because he had finally figured out why Lali's blood smelled the way it did to him) and Lali's two friends, merging their two groups.
-What cemented their friendship was an experiment Rino was trying out in which he became so "anemic" that he collapsed to the ground, unable to move at all. After being carted to the hospital by a panicked KK, Lali remained in the room with Rino and an eons old instinct came over the vampire, which compelled him to ask if he could have Lali's blood by asking for a kiss. Lali (who, in his defense, was too panicked to really listen to the request) agreed, and Rino was able to perform a type of blood transfusion that only angels are capable of. From this, Rino was spared going into a coma while learning that his friend was an ascended being who believed that he was human.
-After that little fiasco, Rino didn't want to rely only on his vampiric abilities and had Maxx, Michael, and Nathan help him learn the art of the bow and arrow and marksmanship and guns, respectively. He sparred with Seki more often instead of just fighting with her, and he even engaged his uncle in a few duals to hone his vampiric powers.
-Six years of friendship after that, Rino first asked Lali if Lali would be his partner. At first Lali refused, but after three years of denying it, he finally accepted on the condition that Rino had to be his boyfriend. At that point, Rino had to tell Lali that Lali was not mortal, but an angel. Lali took it well, considering, and the two were able to develop the boy's powers a bit before the tragedy. Now that Lali's mother has been taken, he will do anything in his powers to help his partner, even if it means traveling to the depths of hell, heaven, or dealing with Seki.

--Combat--
Fighting Style: Very up-close and personal with his fists, and likes to fire his gun at point-blank range, however good of a snipe he is. He fights cockily to lure his opponents into a false sense of security before buckling down and getting serious ("playing" with his "prey" type of relationship). This has a very high risk factor to it, which only makes it all the more fun to him. He plays it safe when fighting in a group rather than one-on-one, though, and is surprisingly a good team player on the battlefield.

Weapons/Gear: A black bow (made of dark wood) with a well-waxed string kept in perfect condition in order to improve its efficiency. He wears the black leather quiver most of the time, and inside there are twenty-five arrows with sharp and notched iron arrowheads. Once he runs out of those, he has to either use arrows that Lali creates for him or ones he can make himself out of the darkness (these have the appearance of an unstable form, a very costly, and are more powerful than the regular arrows). He has a .9 millimeter-type gun that holds sixteen bullets (it's a custom design; the twins made it for him after he completed their course) and ten more magazines of ammo for it. He does his best not to waste a single shot, as he couldn't get the hang of creating darkness bullets and he doesn't want Lali to weaken himself by making one.

Unusual Abilities:
-He has psychic abilities, that he gets from being a vampire, which are limited to moving objects. He can pick something or someone up and carry them or toss them or control an objects movements by either using hand gestured or just his eye movements. However, this can only last for so long (which is about 20 hours if used excessively) and is highly taxing on his strength. [4]
-His senses are heightened, even more so right after he's drank some blood, meaning he can see thing clearer than he usually can. The heightened senses last for only a short time, however, but he is already able to focus in on one overly average sense easily when given enough time to concentrate without the enhancement of fresh blood. (Luckily, he has no trouble concentrating except when he gets bored.) The only power this ability requires is his concentration. [3]
-He can fly, which drains his energies far slower than his psychic powers. He usually spreads his wings while flying, as they help him stay stabilized while airborne. While flying, he has a bird's eye view and can hit his targets easier. This can last (if used excessively on its own) for about four days. [2]
-He can enhance his strength for a short period of time. This enhancement is usually referred to by his race as going into a rage, but it does not blind him to reason or common sense; it does halt his ability to feel pain. While in this state, his nails turn to black claws resembling a raven's talons and his wings come out. This is the most taxing on his "life force", however, so he can only use this power for twenty minutes at the most and when the need is dire. [5]

Physical Attributes: Rino is faster and stronger than the average human. He may be as durable as a normal human, but he makes up for his frailty with physical and mental strength. His special abilities and his physical attributes have about the same amount of power behind them; neither is better than the other.

Group combat techniques: As stated earlier, he can use arrows that Lali makes for him and Lali can use the arrows he can create. He and Seki can tag-team an enemy by using their fists. Other than that, he usually just watches his teammates backs as they do for him and they fight coordinated but with no special combined attacks.

--Tournament--
The Soul: Lali's mother, KK. (Because that's what Lali wants.)

Team: Lali and Seki. He's better at working with Lali than Seki, but he can still agree on some points with Seki. The two have great teamwork, but because they hate each other, they usually don't utilize it very well.

Other: (Maybe this needs clarification; Rino can keep himself from drinking too much of Lali's blood, but it is a little hard for him since he loves the taste so much. Because he has so much Prudence, though, he can reason with his instinctual emotions that there is a time and place for drinking his partner's blood. So, he's got that raw desire in him, but it is beaten back by reason.)

--Last Words--
List the three most important things about your character.
1. He is a vampire sworn to only Lali and Lali's blood.
2. He is an aristocrat type with the haughty and taunting attitude to prove it.
3. He will do anything in his power to help Lali, no matter what else happens.

Author's Comments

This is for an OCT (original character tournament).
Warning: More homosexuality.

Explanation here: Rino was not even differentiated from my serious version to my fictional version character wise.
The only different things are that he was not forced to move away, he befriended Lali at eight, and he is able to perform a blood transfusion with Lali (I should post that little drabble that included that; it was pretty funny). All of those come from the serious!novel. Rino also became Lali's partner at 17/18, which is from the fictional!novel.
Yes, Rino is a vampire, so flame me for that if you want. But his kind of vampire is totally different than any of the others I've seen. And he doesn't sparkle.
And I only put a bit of Rino's family in the family section because it's really huge. I have a whole family tree drawn up for him, and it goes back to his great great great grandparents on both his mom and dad's side.

If you catch any spelling or grammar errors (there will be some, I don't have spell check on my Word program for some bizarre reason), please tell me. Also, constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. (That's constructive criticism, not just flaming, please.)
