The Exchange - Lali Wingdragon by ~momijikk:iconmomijikk:

--Basics--
Name: Lali Wingdragon

Age: 18; appears about a year or so younger than he actually is

Gender: Male

Preferred pronoun: He

Race: Angel (He appears in the form of a human and is Japanese)

--Physical: Appearance--
Height: 5 feet, 8 inches

Weight: Really light.

Build/Body type: Thin enough to faintly see his ribs and with almost no muscles whatsoever.

Skin: Snow white. Paler than the moon. A very delicate porcelain doll look.

Hair: Blacker than a moonless night. Wild, in disarray, hanging in his eyes, and nape length.

Eyes: Lightless black, but with an inner kindness and shyness.

Facial Details: Very thin and frail looking. His cheekbones do not show. His eyes are very droopy (they tilt downward more than usual).

Other defining features/extra anatomy: He can grow white angel wings, but he doesn't like to advertise that fact. He has petite feet and hands. He tends to hold his left fist to his mouth when he is thinking or worried. He's actually left-handed.

Clothing: An oversized (baggy) black long-sleeved shirt, baggy dark blue jeans, and small, neatly tied white tennis shoes.

--Physical: Movement--
Gait/Demeanor: Very timid, very shy, very unsure. Every gesture is made with some sort of caution or hesitation. He likes to be absolutely sure it's what he wants to do. He tends to even be this way on the battlefield, though he will make a decision much quicker.

Voice/Speech patterns: He pauses a lot ("..."-ing), and stutters from his unsureness. He has a very quiet and timid voice. The less pauses in his speech, the surer he is about something. When his conviction is set or when he really isn't paying attention to what he's saying, there are hardly any pauses at all. Since his heritage is Japanese, he will sometimes use Japanese, especially when referring to his mother (whom he calls "kaasan"). He is also constantly using honorfics, especially "-san" when addressing someone he is not so familiar with, and perpetually uses "-kun" for Rino and "-chan" for Seki.

--Personality--
Loves: Rino, his mother, hanging out with his friends, sweets, Rino, his mother's cooking, being able to do something right, challenging schoolwork. Rino, his family, his friends, writing, and did I mention Rino? (No, I'm serious, he loves the vampire that much.)

Hates/Fears: Being bullied, being abandoned (by his mother or Rino), Rino in general (he was bullied by him a lot), and sudden loud noises (he's really jumpy).

Strengths: His best quality is self-sacrifice; he's willing to allow himself to be beaten in order for others to succeed or continue on in order to get the goal completed. He's very skilled at brain work, though, and has fairly good aim for being untrained in archery, which he seems to excel in fairly well. He knows Kung-Fu and can use it to his advantage despite his weakness in strength and frailty.

Weaknesses: Physically, Lali is weak; he's also mentally weak, since it's pretty easy to pry at his fears. When Lali becomes worried, he tends to tune all of the details out and just fret, and, since he's Rino's partner, he has to carry around a lot of orange juice and sugar cookies in order to replenish his blood. His greatest flaw would be that he's flustered far too easily, which destroys his concentration. He has a human's weaknesses, so he's susceptible to cuts, scrapes, and bruises; he wounds easily for an angel.

Attitude in a group: He's best known as just a follower, but when pushed, he can be a great leader. He's very cooperative and is only rebellious in the fact that he doesn't want anyone to die, no matter whose side they are on.

Pick one of the SEVEN DEADLY SINS that your character relates to, and one that your character does not relate to:
Lali does relate to Lust; Lali does not relate to Pride. Although Lali does not really relate to either Wrath or Pride, he will get angrier more often than he is prone to developing a swelled head. Because he was bullied so much as a child, Lali has no self-confidence whatsoever, which may contribute as to why he is as timid and shy as he is. He relates most to lust because, even as an angel (who are only thought to be "pure"), he has some really unsettling thoughts at times, especially after having his blood drained. It's not really his fault, since he is connected to a perverted mind and therefore learned things he shouldn't have, and he does want Rino in that sense of the word as well as just wholly loving his partner. (That, and lust fits better than anything else there was...)

Pick one of the SEVEN HOLY VIRTUES that your character relates to, and one that your character does not relate to:
Lali does relate to Charity; Lali does not relate to Faith. He mainly doesn't relate to faith because that's how I remember him in my mind the best at the moment; him doubting his mother's conviction at every turn right after she adopted him and then for years to come, and then finally being able to have faith that she would not abandon him. But the fear is still there, even concerning Rino now, and so he is the most faithless in human nature (getting orphaned right after you were born kind of does that to you). He's most like charity because almost everything he does is for other people and not himself; he's even going to get his mother's soul back in order to help his father and step-brother more than himself. He's also very self-sacrificing.

Quirks: He's a little dense, but he tends to understand the deeper meaning a whole lot more than Rino does. Basically, everything is an awkward silence to Lali, and he acts as though it is. He can get angry, but he can't stay angry for long. Although he is an angel, his mind is not exactly "pure", a thing that the Higher-Ups blame on Rino's "bad" influence, even though it's his mother's fault. He actually quite enjoys writing and reading, and he's left-handed. He's a whole lot more innocent than his mind appears. He doesn't know that his relationship is seen as "impure" and that is why the Higher-Ups are desperately trying to separate them.

Other: Because Lali died after birth, he became an angel, but retained his soul and remained on the planet in a human guise. He didn't even know that he was an angel. Although he is an angel, the only added effect he gains is the power of flight and a few specialties that come with his person; he can create a bow and arrows out of light, and he can make them solid enough for others to handle. Also, he has the ability to create a type of music that can heal or harm, depending on what frequency he makes it at.
-Because he has thought that he was a normal human for so long, he is treated like a human in his partnership with Rino, meaning that he will still have all of the side effects that come of having his blood drained. The only abnormal ability that they can perform a blood transfusion with a kiss.

--History/Background--
Setting: Comes from a generic "Eath" setting from the generic "present" time period with the same technological advances and hindrances as "today's". The only difference is that this "Earth" allows for more fanatical beings to come into existence (i.e. there are people who can morph into animals and biological androids, or "bioroids") and the history of its existence is not the same as our Earth's, though it is a little similar.

Family: His foster mother, KK Wingdragon. He has a connection with her mind that existed almost immediately after he died. His soul is connected to hers, which is what allows them to hear each other's thoughts and talk with one another telepathically. Lali views her as someone who saved him, so he really loves her a whole lot and sees her as his real mother. She and Lali connect easily since she has also lost her parents.
His step-father, Isaku Wingdragon. Lali is still unsure as to what exactly to think of him; he's distantly polite at times and he loves his mother, who loves him in return, so Lali feels he has nothing to worry about Isaku.
His younger brother, Sanu Wingdragon. Lali and Sanu are very close. They both have a special connection with their mother, and they both love her as much as they possibly can. Sanu is too young to go with Lali, however, so Sanu supports his older brother from home.
His mother's twin brothers, T and Mar. Although Lali has not seen them since he was fifteen, they were an important part of his childhood as well, helping his mother and him learn Kung-Fu. They are inseparable. Lali knows them as the ones who took care of and raised KK.
The two lawyers his mother took in once, Shimi Kinai and Rye Edgarini. Lali treats these two like close uncles, since they were still frequent visitors when Lali was adopted. They are kind and helpful to Lali, so Lali feels safe around them. Since they have experienced the loss of their parents, even witnessing the murders first hand, Lali can connect with the two.

Friends: His partner and first crush, Rino Asahi. Rino was Lali's first and only love. Lali devoted himself whole-heartedly to Rino, even when the vampire was still bullying him. Lali had always classified his feelings for Rino as a foolish dream that could never come true, so he was overjoyed when Rino agreed to be his boyfriend in exchange for being able to drink Lali's blood.
His first friend, Seki Gintaryuu. She is his moral support, the one who helps to protect him, and a dear friend who can understand his pain easily. She is someone to practice with and someone to share with. She is more like a sister to Lali than anything else.
A shy and quiet boy who is the son of his mother's friend, Mitsu Takashi. Lali and Mitsu get along very well, as they're both shy and had previously been orphans, and they can understand each other in the fact that they're both thin and look more feminine than masculine. He is someone Lali can go and talk and listen to when KK can't help.
A gamer his mother watched over, Maxx Jenkis. Maxx has a deep respect for Lali that stems from somewhere in his personality. Lali could always count on Maxx to convince Rino to be more caring and kinder towards him, and Maxx was a partner to play games with. After being able to bond more as friends, Maxx was finally able to drop the honorfic "-sama" he had first attached onto Lali's name.
The twin mafia heirs, Michael and Nathan Washin. These two respect Lali for being able to snag their boss, Rino's, attention, and as such perpetually address him with the added honorfic "-sama". They are willing to serve, protect, and provide for Lali and Rino, even more so after Lali and Rino had finally admitted to being a couple. Michael and Nathan shared the knowledge that Lali and Rino would hook up with Maxx, Seki, and Mitsu since childhood, while Lali, Rino, and Seki know that Michael is closer with Maxx than first appears and Nathan has a crush on Mitsu.

Backstory: Lali was born in Japan. The moment Lali was born, the doctors thought he had died, so they disposed of him. In that moment before his soul was ascended, he made a connection with another soul, his foster mother KK who lived in America. Because of this connection to the real ground, the Higher-Ups could not lead his soul to the ascension, and Lali went on living on the world, thinking that he was a normal human. He stayed in Japan until he was four, then he was taken to America on an exchange program. That was where his mother was able to find him.
-After KK adopted him, she took in Kitah and Seki, two orphans who had crash landed right in front of her house. KK still lived with her twin older brothers, their parents also having died, but she didn't ask their permission first because it was important for her to help out those in need. With this, she taught Lali selflessness and how to have faith again, though his would always be shaky.
-KK also watched over her relative's or friend's kids for a part-time job, and that's where Lali met Maxx, Mitsu, and Rino. He was especially attracted to Rino, who he saw as a great boy with an over abundance of self-confidence. Even after the boy began bullying him, Lali never stopped liking him. Seki was constantly trying to protect Lali from Rino, but she couldn't a lot of the time because Lali was too drawn to Rino. She could help with the other bullies who actually gave scrapes, cuts, and bruises to Lali, but that was mostly left to Rino.
-When Rino fainted at eight, after they had all become friends with Rino and his group, Lali was practically frantic. He was truly afraid that he would lose the boy he had admired and loved for so long. When Rino first took his blood, Lali wasn't sure what exactly happened. Rino had always said he was a vampire, but Lali had never believed him until then.
-When Lali was ten, his mother got pregnant and had to get married to her long-time friend, Isaku. Because they had a "shotgun" wedding, Lali was a little confused at first, but he accepted it as his mother didn't abandon him or leave him with less attention than she normally gave him. Although Isaku was wary of Lali since Lali was not his son by blood, KK forced her husband to see that Lali was her son and that she wouldn't leave him for the world, so Isaku grew to love Lali like a son as well. When Sanu, KK's biological son, was born, Lali loved him like a brother from the start. Sanu and Lali grew closer and somehow forgot that they weren't really related, acting like siblings who were related like blood.
-After that, everything basically snowballed for them until Rino asked Lali for his blood when Lali just turned fourteen. Of course, Lali refused at first, and held out for three years before finally agreeing and having to have Rino tell him that he was an angel.
-During the year of lag time, Lali learned how to use his powers that came with his race. He trained long and hard, even working with his mother on the Kung-Fu she had taught him when he was seven, and he mastered these abilities fairly well before the tragedy struck. After that, his mother was killed by the Higher-Ups, and Lali was faced with the task of fixing his broken father and his younger brother's future.
-And so, Lali decided to make a deal with Death...

--Combat--
Fighting Style: Surprisingly very up-front and to the point. When Lali is attacking, he tends to try and get it over with as soon as possible without fatally wounding the opponent. He would rather not shoot to kill, but he won't hesitate to harm if the opponent is persistent. He prefers long-range combat to short-range, but he knows Kung-Fu and so in hand-to-hand combat he is as reserved and polite as his personality. This means that he will try to incapacitate without hurting too much or killing the other.

Weapons/Gear: He can create a pure white bow and bright white arrows out of his celestial energy; the bow is more unstable-looking than the arrows, which take a more solid shape. They have no arrowheads but are sharpened at the very tip. Lali can create these at a moment's notice, and they are long-range type weapons.

Unusual Abilities:
-He can create a type of soothing music at a frequency that will heal his partner's wounds. The type of frequency determines if the music will heal one person or a group. Lali can use this power to heal minor or fatal wounds, the latter taking up more energy, but he can not revive a person after they have passed on. It can be used twelve times every four hours, with time to rest and regain energy. [5]
-By changing the frequency and tune of the music, Lali can also use it to attack an opponent by paralyzing (halting them / causing the person's movements to be jagged and slow) or causing minor wounds (small cuts or scrapes across the flesh); the latter is mainly to distract. This creation of music takes more out of him than healing, and it can only be used five times every three hours. The effects of paralysis can last up to half an hour. [2]
-He has white angel wings that he can use to fly. These, like Rino's, don't drain much of his powers and can last up to four days if excessively used. [3]
-His ability to create arrows and his bow. This does not drain him so terribly, and he can create around two-hundred arrows before it will start to grow more unstable on him. [4] He can only create two "holy" bullets before he needs to rest for a good five hours. [1]

Physical Attributes: Physically, Lali is weak and has only a slightly above average speed due to his thin frame. His abnormal traits are most definitely stronger than any of his physical attributes.

Group combat techniques: He can create arrows for Rino to use. He can also create "holy" bullets for Rino's gun, but he can't create the mass often as it strains him. Since he and Seki both know the same style of Kung-Fu, he can team up with her on an attack as well.

--Tournament--
The Soul: KK Wingdragon; because she is Lali's mother, the one who saved him from his loneliness and salvaged him from the remains of his broken faith. He also wants to recover her so that Isaku doesn't kill himself and so that Sanu is not without a mother like Lali had been when he was born.

Team: Rino and Seki. He has the role of a healer more than anything, but he is also a team player and will watch his partners' backs.

Other: Lali's ability to use music is basically just him whistling, humming, or singing. It doesn't matter which song exactly he is singing, it just all depends on the tune; if it is a melancholy tune, then it will hurt, if it is a soothing tune then it will heal.

--Last Words--
List the three most important things about your character.
1. He loves his mother as fiercely as he loves Rino. (Not like a lion fierce, but in a large amount.)
2. He is Rino Asahi's partner.
3. He is a timid, shy, and meek little thing, which makes others presume that he is weak, though he is mostly not weak.

Author's Comments

This is for a Writing Tournament for OCs. (An OCT, if you will.) Yes, I plan on entering again so sue me for loving my OCs too much to not use them.
Warning: This contains homosexuality.

Explanation here: Lali is a character I've had in mind for about a year or so now. This is kind of a combination I've done of my serious!novel version and fictional!novel version. (The entire point of having the serious and fictional separated was the copious amount of "inappropriate" homosexuality. No, really.)
The fictional Lali was not an angel but did get together with Rino at 17/18, and he has a different last name (which I STILL couldn't use here. Ugh). His mom's entire family situation is also drastically different.
The serious Lali was separated from Rino at 14/15 and was an angel. He and Rino weren't supposed to get together in that version.

If you catch any spelling or grammar errors (there will be some, I don't have spell check on my Word program for some bizarre reason), please tell me. Also, constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.
